To prevent electric shocks, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started applying glass-reinforced plastic (GRP)coating on streetlight poles in high-risk areas. The chief superintendent engineer of PMC’s electrical department said that they have set a target of coating 1,000 street poles located in slum clusters. The PMC is also replacing old poles with safer fiber-reinforced plastic ones.
