Former Australia batter Matthew Hayden opined that Shubman Gill replacing Rohit Sharma as ODI captain is an "insurance policy" that helps Gill to learn leadership while Rohit is still in the dressing room. He added, "At 38, with a couple of years to go before the 2027 World Cup, he becomes a bit vulnerable purely because of his age."
