A large-scale birth certificate scam has been exposed in UP’s Badaun, where hackers allegedly created around 40,000 fake certificates by breaching gram panchayat IDs and mobile numbers, officials said. The case came to light after a discrepancy was found in Aligarh, prompting a DM-ordered investigation. In Hazara and Phulasi, 18,000 and 15,000 false certificates were generated, officials added.
