Director Kunal Kohli said that late actor Rishi Kapoor had initially refused to make a guest appearance in 'Hum Tum'. "He said, 'Bakwas hai. You gave me just seven scenes, I don't want to do this'," recalled Kunal. Kunal added he convinced Rishi by saying that his character creates impact on storyline despite limited screen time.
