Congress has expelled Jayashree Madan Patil for six years for contesting as an Independent against the party's official candidate Prithiviraj Patil in the Sangli Assembly constituency, ANI reported. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said Patil's actions "violate the party's discipline". This comes ahead of Assembly elections in Maharashtra which are scheduled on November 20.
