At least 50% of Indian states and Union Territories exceed the 48-hour workweek limit set by the Centre's new Labour Codes, according to the data from the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2023–24. The data states that about one in four regular workers in India works over 48 hours/week, while 7.7% of workers work between 60 and 72 hours.
