Scientists have unearthed 112-million-year-old amber containing remarkably preserved insects from the Cretaceous Period from the Amazon forest region of Ecuador. The amber, fossilised tree resin, held wasps, midges, aphids, caddisflies, beetles and even part of a spider's web. These bioinclusions provide rare insight into South America's dinosaur-era ecosystem, researchers said.
