Hawthornden Wainui, recognised by Guinness World Records as world's oldest alpaca, died in New Zealand aged 27 years and 267 days. Born in 1998 at Hawthornden Alpaca Farm, Wainui lived with owners Vicki and Alex Cordier. Alpacas generally live for 15 to 20 years, making Wainui's long life extraordinary. His owners credited his longevity to calm lifestyle and good food.
