The researchers at Maynooth University have found a method to recover fingerprints from fired bullet casings. The process works by placing the brass casings inside an electrochemical cell filled with a chemical solution and a low electrical voltage is applied to it. The chemicals fill the tiny gaps between fingerprint ridges, forms a distinct, high-contrast image of the fingerprints.
