A "rare atmospheric phenomenon" caused massive power outages across Spain, Portugal, France & other parts of Europe, Portugal's power grid operator REN said. "Due to extreme temperature variations in Spain, there were anomalous oscillations in very high voltage lines, known as 'induced atmospheric vibration'," REN said. "It caused synchronisation failures between electrical systems," REN added.
