A senior Tata Group director, on the condition of anonymity, told the Indian Express that the standoff at Tata Trusts in September was "certainly botched". "I don't know if there was a coup...[But it] resulted in the loss of a Trusts seat on the Tata Sons board, the attention of the government...and a great deal of unwelcome publicity," he added.
