Architect of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Chandrakant Sompura, was one of the recipients of Padma Shri awards announced by the central government on Saturday. Sompura belongs to a family of temple architects who have designed over 200 such structures across the country over centuries. Sompura's grandfather Prabhashankar Sompura designed the revived Somnath temple in Gujarat's Prabhas Patan in 1949.
