Home Ministry issued clarification after a proposed Bill to appoint Lieutenant Governor to Chandigarh sparked row. The Bill is "only to simplify [Centre's] law-making process" for Chandigarh, it said, adding, "No final decision has been taken." It said, "The proposal in no way seeks to alter Chandigarh's governance or administrative structure [or its arrangements with] Punjab and Haryana."
