The historians trace origin of crackers to China and they were introduced to India through trade with China around 13th century, reports said. The tradition of bursting fireworks during Diwali is thought to have started between 16th and 17th centuries. They were initially used in royal courts and wealthy households before general public made it a part of Diwali celebrations.
