Vishva Hindu Parishad has objected to actress Poonam Pandey playing Ravan’s wife in Delhi Ramlila. In a letter, Delhi VHP said, "Mandodari's character represents virtue and dignity.... an artist for this role should reflect these ideals." The organising committee, however, has refused to drop Pandey, saying controversies from past shouldn't prevent an artist from being allowed to improve herself.
