A recent research showed that a father's preconception environment can leave molecular footprints in embryos, able to shape development and long-term health of offspring. The study conducted in mice found that disrupting the gut microbiome of male mice increases disease risk in their future offspring. Paternal age also affects offspring development at the earliest stages of embryogenesis.
