A rose-ringed parakeet, rescued from illegal captivity by the forest department, received a prosthetic upper beak at the Transit Treatment Centre in Pune. The parakeet, malnourished with a missing upper beak, underwent the rare procedure. Dr Sushrut Shirbhate of RESQ CT said, "Seeing the parakeet regain these abilities within days of the prosthetic attachment is incredibly rewarding."
