The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to Indian Railways over a complaint alleging that non-vegetarian meals on trains serve only halal-processed meat. The complaint claimed this practice excludes people from Hindu Dalit communities, who traditionally work in the meat trade. It further stated that this harms their livelihood rights and access to equal opportunities.
