West Bengal Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim has sparked a controversy with his remarks during an educational conference. "In India, we (Muslims) account for only 17% of population and are called minority community...By Allah's grace and with education on our side, we can become bigger than majority," said Hakim. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar called his remarks "pure venom".
