West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said the Waqf (Amendment) Act goes against the federal structure of the country. Speaking in Kolkata, she said, "I appeal to PM Narendra Modi not to allow any 'atrocious law' and to keep a check on his Home Minister (Amit Shah)." She also spoke about the communal unrest in Murshidabad, claiming the violence was pre-planned.
