The Maratha quota protest saw tensions rise after an effigy of BJP Mahila Morcha president and MLA Chitra Wagh became the focal point. The protesters paraded the effigy to express their anger over Wagh’s criticism of Maratha protest leader Manoj Jarange Patil. Some protesters said, "Anyone who insults our leader will face consequences."
