Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane highlighted that the space for independent films in the Indian film industry is shrinking. "I don’t think there’s space for an indie film for a theatrical audience, or even for a streaming audience," Motwane said. He further claimed that not a single "purely artistic" film backed by a local producer has been released since the COVID-19 pandemic.
