After a stampede at actor-politician Vijay's rally claimed 39 lives, an eyewitness claimed people started pushing each other after Vijay arrived and threw slippers at campaign bus to get his attention. "If Vijay had just waved his hands while on his way, the crowd wouldn't have followed him," said another eyewitness, adding, "People were screaming for help...Vijay ignored their cries."
