After UK gave up sovereignty over Chagos Islands and handed them over to Mauritius, PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth expressed gratitude to India and African Union. "[India, African Union] and all friendly countries...supported us in...completing our decolonisation," Jugnauth wrote on X. India hailed agreement between UK and Mauritius and had earlier encouraged both countries to negotiate in the matter.
