Twenty-five-year-old folk singer Maithili Thakur joined the BJP in Patna in the presence of state BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. She may contest the election from the Alinagar Assembly constituency in Darbhanga, according to reports. Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11.
