Former BJP councillor Alok Singh (30) was shot at close range near Ramghat intersection during idol immersion in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night, officials said. They added that two bike-borne assailants opened fire and fled. Police suspect a property dispute with his associates as the motive and have detained some suspects for investigation. Singh, critically injured, is in hospital.
