Archaeologists discovered that people at the end of British Bronze Age gathered for communal meat feasts, after finding millions of animal bones at middens, the ancient rubbish heaps. Researchers tracked the origins of the animals among regions using advanced isotopes. These people travelled far, bringing cattle, pigs, and sheep to festivals to foster alliances and express identities, they say.
