After a stampede at his rally in Karur killed 39 people, actor-politician Vijay announced ₹20 lakh for each family who have lost their loved ones and ₹2 lakh to each person who is injured. "This is indeed an irreparable loss for us. No matter who offers words of comfort, the loss of our loved ones is unbearable," he said.
