Experts have said that before sleeping, one should avoid consuming citrus fruits, tomatoes and tomato-based sauces as it can worsen acid reflux when lying down. Spicy food can raise body temperature and trigger reflux and heartburn, while greasy food can cause indigestion leading to restless sleep. Sugary food and tea, coffee and other caffeinated drinks should also be avoided.
