Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the GST reform was aimed at providing relief to middle class, farmers and small businesses. She added, that rate rationalisation would enhance affordability, boost consumption and make essential goods accessible to a wider population. The reforms are based on three pillars - structural reforms, rate rationalisation and ease of living, she said .
