Bangladesh's interim government leader Muhammad Yunus dismissed rumours that a coup is being plotted against him by the military, calling the claims "attempts to mislead people". "In order to destabilise [Bangladesh], attempts are being made to mislead...people by spreading false information," he said. Yunus was appointed on August 8, 2024, following the fall of ex-PM Sheikh Hasina's government.
