Reacting to a video wherein ex-India captain Sunil Gavaskar suggested that Rishabh Pant might have left DC due to a disagreement over fee, the wicketkeeper-batter tweeted, "My retention wasn’t about money for sure that I can say." Gavaskar, in the video, also stated that DC might bid for Pant at the mega auction to get him back.
