Mahakal temple in Darjeeling has banned the entry of women wearing short skirts inside temple premises and has offered rental long ghagras for ₹25. "People wearing short dresses and miniskirts don't complement the sanctity of the place," Mahakal Mandir Puja and Welfare Committee (MMPWC) president Meghraj Rai said. "Other devotees have objected to such dresses," another committee official said.
