AAIB's preliminary report, which said fuel cutoff switches caused engine loss and led to the Ahmedabad plane crash, stated that US aviation regulator FAA had advised airlines to conduct checks on the switches in 2018. The advisory concerned potential disengagement of the switch locking feature. Air India said it didn't inspect switches as the checks were advised and not mandated.
