Inhalers for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) produced over 24 million metric tons of carbon emissions each year over past decade, roughly equal to annual emissions of 530,000 gasoline-powered cars, a study found. The study, done by UCLA Health and published in JAMA, is the largest of its kind to assess environmental impact of inhalers in the US.
