As cases of Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) surge in China, several other countries in Asia, and elsewhere have also reported cases. India recorded at least seven confirmed cases in January 2025, while reports said that Malaysia and Kazakhstan have recorded HMPV cases recently. The US and the UK have also seen an uptick in HMPV cases in last few months.
