Anthropic has agreed to pay $1.5 billion to settle a class-action lawsuit from a group of authors in US who accused the artificial intelligence (AI) firm of using their books to train its AI chatbot Claude without permission. The company said it'll destroy the downloaded copies of the books the authors accused it of pirating as part of the settlement.
