Eating late at night keeps a person's digestive organs active, preventing deep and restorative sleep, according to surgical gastroenterologist Dr Arun Prasad. The stomach, liver and pancreas continue working and divert energy from repair and recovery. This can cause tiredness, bloating or acid reflux and even disrupt dreams. Experts suggest eating dinner at least four to five hours before bedtime.
