Actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, lost to Congress' CP Yogeshwara by a margin of 25,413 votes in Karnataka's Channapatna. Nikhil secured 87,229 votes, while Yogeshwara, who resigned from BJP and joined Congress, got 1,12,642 votes. With the win in Channapatna, the Congress won all three by-polls (including Sandur and Shiggaon) in the state.
