A study by Canada's McMaster University suggested that retinal scans could predict heart disease risk and biological ageing. The study analysed data from 74,000 participants. It found that people with simpler, less branched blood vessels were at increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and showed signs of biological ageing, such as higher inflammation and shorter lifespan.
