West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's close aide Babla Sarkar was shot dead by four bike-borne assailants on Thursday in Malda district. Sarkar was reportedly on his way to his factory after leaving the TMC office when assailants approached him from behind and fired four rounds at him. Reacting to his death, Banerjee said, "The culprits must be booked immediately."
