Govt temporarily scraps duty on cotton imports amid tariff threats

The Finance Ministry on Monday notified the elimination of 11% duty on cotton imports till September 30. The move comes as a temporary relief to the textile and garment industry amid concerns regarding US President Donald Trump's 50% tariffs. In the Gazette notification, the government said the move was "necessary" and "in the public interest".
