The Bilaspur train collision that killed 11 may have resulted from a 'Signal Passed at Danger' (SPAD), News18 reported. SPAD occurs when a loco pilot crosses a red signal without authorisation. Red indicates the track ahead is not clear, often because another train occupies it. Preliminary reports suggest the passenger train overshot the signal, colliding with a stationary goods train.
