Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, first woman to serve as Speaker of US House from 2003 to 2023, announced that she will be retiring from Congress after 40 years. In a video message, Pelosi said she won't be seeking re-election to Congress at end of her term in January 2027. After the vice-president, the speaker is next in line to presidency.
