South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday declared emergency martial law in the country. Martial law refers to the temporary imposition of military control over civilian authorities during times of crisis when regular civil governance is deemed insufficient. In most cases, it also involves restrictions on freedoms, curfews and military involvement in law enforcement and public order.
