Reacting to the arrest of law student Sharmistha Panoli, Congress leader Karti Chidambaram said interstate arrests made over social media posts are "blatant misuse of police powers". He added that exceptions can be made in case of online posts triggering a law and order situation. Panoli was arrested in Gurugram for allegedly insulting Islam online after the Pahalgam terror attack.
