Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law allowing some convicts to join the armed forces amid a move to boost the forces' manpower. The new law will offer parole to convicts who sign a contract to join the army, however, those convicted of serious offences like premeditated murder and rape won't be allowed to join the forces.
