Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said that GT captain Shubman Gill has learnt a lot from IPL 2024 when he was GT's captain, but his team didn't do "too well" in the IPL. Talking about Gill's captaincy in IPL 2025, Gavaskar stated, "When you see a catch being dropped, there's a misfield, he doesn't get annoyed...he controls his emotions."
