Northern India is expected to witness 10-12 heatwave days this year, which is double the normal, India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Soma Sen Roy told ANI. According to IMD, a heatwave condition is declared when the temperature reaches 40°C or more in plains. Notably, 2024 was the hottest year globally, according to a report by EU's Copernicus.
