Death toll rises to 151 after floods submerge Nigerian market town

Over 150 people have died in severe flooding after torrential rains hit Mokwa, a market town in Nigeria, officials said. The flood submerged over 500 homes and displaced more than 3,000 people. Nigeria is prone to flooding during rainy season, which began in April. In 2022, Nigeria experienced its worst floods in over a decade, killing more than 600 people.
